At over 47,000ha, Telopea Downs straddles the SA/VIC border and operates enterprises including sheep, beef and cropping.
As an aggregation of 11 properties, a Livestock Overseer at Telopea Downs, while reporting to the General Manager and Assistant Manager – Livestock, is responsible for overseeing their own section of the property and supervising a small team.
This unique opportunity is perfect for a current livestock overseer who is looking for more autonomy in which to build their career, or a senior station hand with at least 3 years’ experience, who is looking for their first step into frontline management.
Main responsibilities include:
Support the General Manager and Assistant Manager - Livestock in the day-to-day operations of the property.
Responsibility for the efficient processing of livestock at shearing, crutching and lamb marking.
Supervision of stock health management.
Assisting in the allocation and monitoring of staff workloads in line with operational requirements and timeframes.
Assisting with induction and training for new staff.
General maintenance around the property.
Required skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent attention to detail including reporting and data collection. Working knowledge of Agriwebb would be highly beneficial.
Proven time management and organisation skills.
Proven professional standards of work and behaviour.
Able to motivate staff and act as a role model.
Commitment to a safe work environment and safe working practices on the job
Have at least one trained and effective working dog.
Experience in riding and working on 2-wheeled motorbikes. A motorbike licence is preferred or the willingness to obtain one is essential.
