Job Description
Our client is an industry leading poultry breeding company with sophisticated operations located in Sandy Camp, Queensland, and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill poultry positions across their farming sites.
You are required to work in a poultry environment where dust and the smell of livestock is present. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased birds; all animals must be handled gently and compassionately. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting.
You will be paid under the Pastoral Award – Level 1, with an hourly rate of $21.86 per hour, and 1 year contract with an average minimum of 38 hours per week.
Key duties include:
Working to verbal and/or written instructions and completing any paperwork required
Performing maintenance as requested from the manager in a timely manner
Assisting with the setup of sheds for bird arrival
Assisting with the unloading of birds as directed by the manager or supervisor
Being responsible for accurate counting
Picking up and removing dead birds and recording mortalities on the correct forms
Monitoring shed conditions (e.g. water, lights, etc.) and reporting all malfunctions
Grading eggs and filling in relevant paperwork according to training procedures
Performing all duties in accordance with training procedures
Catching and loading birds in a safe manner, always keeping bird welfare in mind
Assisting in the cleanout and disinfection of the sheds
Key Skills & Experience To be considered for the role, it’s important that you have the following:
Comfortable working in a poultry environment
Good communication skills and able to follow instructions
No asthma or dust allergies
Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labor-intensive duties
Able to follow directions and work unsupervised while showing high levels of initiative
A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
