Trevelyan’s provide quality growing, picking, packing and coolstore services for our amazing kiwifruit and avocado growers, all out of state-of-the-art facilities in Te Puke. We have strong partnerships with our growers, our people and our local community. We’re proud of what our people have achieved and are now looking for Optical Fruit Sorting Equipment Operators to support our team during our 2023 season.
We have a nightshift position available.
The role
As one of our Optical Fruit Sorting Equipment Operators you will work in our kiwifruit packhouse with data and technology to build effective models and map our state-of-the-art software which help us to more accurately and efficiently grade our fruit ready for exporting.
To model and operate Optical Grading and Near Infrared (NIR) technology to measure quality and grade of fruit, analysing data to drive quality and grading outcomes improvements.
To improve grading accuracy and efficiency to maximise grower profits.
To provide data analysis by managing and maintaining accurate records from Optical Grading systems.
Act as liaison with service providers, communicating weekly data with them for analysis and improvements.
Skills & Experience
The right candidate will ideally have some experience within kiwifruit; however, we will provide training if that’s not you. It would be ideal for a Uni leaver looking to kickstart their career.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Strong computer skills
Data analysis experience (or be naturally curious)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication skills
Really good attention to detail
Kiwifruit industry experience (would be good but isn’t essential!)
