Farm Manager - Colac VIC, Australia
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Farm Manager to join a modern dairy operation located in the Western Districts of Victoria. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of a pasture-based dairy farm with 700 Holstein cows. The farm utilizes advanced technology, including a state-of-the-art robotic milking system with 10 Lely robot stalls. As the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in driving milk production and profitability while ensuring efficient dairy and herd management.
Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of daily operations, including herd management and pasture renovation.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to contribute to strategic farm planning and future progression.
Monitor and optimize milk production, utilizing modern technologies for cow health monitoring.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and animal welfare practices.
Oversee the utilization of the robotic milking system and manage any maintenance or technical issues.
Implement effective herd management practices, including breeding programs, nutrition, and health protocols.
Lead and supervise a team of farm staff, providing guidance, training, and support.
Monitor and manage farm budgets, expenses, and resources.
Maintain accurate records of farm activities and performance indicators.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Farm Manager, preferably within a dairy farming environment.
Familiarity with modern dairy robotics or a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Strong knowledge of pasture-based dairy farming practices, herd management, and milk production.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Sound understanding of farm financial management and budgeting.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Full working rights in Australia and a valid driver's license.
Benefits:
Competitive salary in the range of $110,000 - $130,000 per annum.
