Join our dynamic team at Pamu and embark on an exciting opportunity as a Beef Finishing Specialist in the picturesque Far North district of Northland. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing our beef finishing operations, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and optimizing production outcomes.
About the Role:
As a Beef Finishing Specialist, you will work closely with our experienced Farm Manager, developing your skills in pasture and animal management. You will actively monitor live weight production, implement effective grazing strategies, and contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the farm. You will also be involved in organizing stock movements, both internally and externally.
Farm Overview:
Takakuri is our sprawling 1650 ha property, featuring rolling country and a dedicated 400 ha bull unit comprising a mix of Angus and Friesian bulls. As part of a dedicated team of three, you will be responsible for the care of 1600 weaners. Additionally, parts of the property are utilized for forestry purposes.
Your Profile:
We are seeking candidates with a genuine passion for farming, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to health and safety standards. While prior experience is preferred, we are willing to provide training and upskilling opportunities to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn. Key requirements include:
Well-trained working dogs
Keen interest in technical and intensive farming practices
Demonstrated expertise in pasture and animal husbandry
Enthusiasm, positivity, and a proactive mindset
Excellent planning and time management skills
Restricted or full driver's license
Comfort and proficiency with technology and digital systems
