Responsibilities:
Support the Farm & Shore Manager in allocating day-to-day activities to the team.
Operate as a Skipper for the oyster farm vessel, coordinating tasks related to the deployment and maintenance of farm infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with maritime rules and regulations, taking responsibility for the barge and crew.
Provide guidance and support to the farm crew, ensuring adherence to correct procedures and best oyster husbandry practices.
Accurately update data systems (e.g., Smart Oysters) with stocking details and relevant information.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of tide and weather conditions, collaborating with the Farm & Shore Manager and Farm Supervisor to minimize downtime.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude, embracing all tasks to become the best in your role.
Requirements:
Minimum of two years of aquaculture farming experience OR one year of aquaculture farming experience and a relevant tertiary qualification in Aquaculture/Marine Science (or equivalent).
Commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace.
Competent Skipper with a valid license.
Task-oriented with a proven track record of delivering outcomes on time.
Full and clean NZ Driver's License with reliable transportation to and from work.
Availability to work weekends.
