Job description
We are a Horticulture business based in Pokeno, Waikato and currently have vacancies ongoing for 3 Full Time Vegetable Farm Workers. The candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the Horticultural Industry. The eligible candidates, should be ready to work on weekends. Minimum hours will be no less than 30, upto a maximum of 50 hours. The candidates must be able to perform the following duties as mentioned below:
Sowing, seedlings using hand tools and farm machines
Cultivating, irrigating, spraying and harvesting produce
Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
Examine and report on the condition of the crops
Cleaning and maintaining farming infrastructure, such as sheds, fences, plants, and water supply and irrigation systems
Undertaking soil preparation, crop maintenance duties such as hoeing row crops and weeding.
Spraying plants with pesticides to control fungus, weed growth , diseases and insects.
Managing water supplies for irrigation systems, for crop growth
Selecting and picking crops according to set requirements and discarding rotten produce
Compliance with Health and Safety
Sorting and bunching of produce
